Derek Heintz has been with the North Carolina Highway Patrol since 2007. He is currently assigned to the Western Motor Unit located in Mecklenburg County, NC. He has completed the North Carolina Highway Patrol Basic Motor Officer School as well as the Northwestern University Police Motorcycle Instructor School. Trooper Heintz has also received training at the California Superbike School held a Virginia International Raceway. He also currently serves as field training officer for the NC Highway Patrol
