Sgt. Steven Cohn

I have been employed by the Matthews Police Department since September of 2011. During my career, I have developed a passion for traffic safety and enforcement. I have also become the 300th officer in the state since 1998 to obtain my North Carolina Justice Academy Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Certificate. This certification requires you complete 500 hours of traffic enforcement and investigative training. I am also a certified crash reconstructionist. During my career I have also obtained both my intermediate and advanced law enforcement certifications, these certificates require a combination of years of experience and training. My most rewarding moment thus far in my career was being one of the first certified Motor Officers in the agency. This certification course required 80 hours of training from Northwestern University Center for Public Safety.
