Officer Chris Ruff has served as a patrol officer with the Columbus Police Department since 2011. Prior to that, Officer Ruff was a deputy with the Polk County Sheriff's Office since 2008. Officer Ruff is a veteran of the United States Army where he served for 8 years, including one deployment to Afghanistan. He has ridden motorcycles of one kind or another since he was 8 years old. Officer Ruff often patrols Columbus streets and highways on the department's 2012 Kawasaki Concours 14 or 2013 BMW R1200RTP. Officer Ruff completed the North Carolina Highway Patrol Basic Motorcycle Operator School in 2012.
