Sgt. Brian Lampe

Sergeant Lampe is a native of Burlington, N.C. After graduating from Walter M. Williams High School in 1990, he served in the United States Marine Corps for 6 years as a Nuclear, Biological and Chemical warfare defense specialist. Upon completion of his military service in July of 1997, Sgt. Lampe studied engineering at North Carolina State University before accepting a position with the Raleigh Police Department in August of 1999. Lampe spent his first 6 years with the department as a patrol officer in the Field Operations division. From August of 2005 through September of 2012, he was assigned to the Traffic Enforcement Unit as a police motor officer. In November of 2013, Lampe was selected to help establish and lead Raleigh Police Department's DWI Enforcement Unit, the position he currently holds. Sgt. Lampe holds professional certifications as a chemical analyst, RADAR/LIDAR operator, and Police Motorcycle Officer Instructor. He has been assessing students in the BikeSafe NC program since July 2008. Sgt. Lampe is an avid hockey fan and enjoys spending his off-duty time with his family and tailgating at Carolina Hurricanes games.
