Trooper McGaugh began his career in 2008 with the Asheboro Police Department and became a Trooper with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol in 2012. Trooper McGaugh served in Montgomery County from 2012-2014 and Randolph County from 2014-2026. Trooper McGaugh completed Basic Motor Officer School in 2025 and joined the Motor Unit in 2026, where he is currently assigned to Mecklenburg County. Trooper McGaugh joined the US Army in 2003, has served 3 combat tours overseas, and served for 15 years.
